For the past 8 years MotherLove Ferments has been making great tasting kombucha with a focus on improving gut health. MotherLove built a new tasting room in Kelowna’s brewery district and is launching a new hard kombucha this spring. We are looking for a part-time brewery assistant and social media manager to join our team. If you are passionate about fermentation and the craft beverage industry, learning about kombucha, hard kombucha, and kefir fermentation all while helping us grow, then we want to hear from you!

Job Description – Brewery Assistant

The Brewer’s Assistant will provide support to the Brewer by assisting with all brewing tasks including cleaning of equipment, monitoring brewing and packaging kombucha and water kefir. They may also be responsible for filling customers orders and inventory counts. The Brewer's Assistant will have the opportunity to learn brewing techniques from the Brewer when possible. 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Passionate about the craft brewing industry 

  • Outstanding attention detail and ability to multitask 

  • Excellent problem solver 

  • Able to lift over 50lbs repeatedly

  • Must be able to stand, walk, lift and bend for up to 8 hours a day

  • Serving it Right - preferred 

  • Brewery experience - 1 year - preferred 

  • Drivers license - preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 

You will be counted on to carry out many brewery related tasks including, but not limited to: 

  • Assisting the Head Brewer in brewing production 

  • Handling raw materials, moving pallets, lifting and carrying loads in excess of 50 lbs

  • Cleaning and maintenance of all brewing equipment 

  • Packaging product in cans, growlers and kegs. 

  • Daily adherence to standard operating procedures and safety procedures when completing tasks.

  • Assist with weekly production/cleaning schedules. 

  • Cleaning the production area, scrubbing floors, sweeping on a daily basis. 

  • Occasionally assisting front of house staff with serving customers. 

  • Help load full kegs into the trucks for deliveries.

Rate: $18/hr

Job Description – In-House Social Media Manager

The social media manager will be responsible for creating and managing Daypass' online presence on various social media platforms. The main objective is to increase brand awareness, engagement, and drive traffic to the company's website and Kombucha Bar. This role will include educating customers at the Kombucha Bar, conducting tastings and providing excellent customer service to bar patrons. Because this is a new brand the goal is to ensure that all customers have an enjoyable and memorable experience at the bar and on social media. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Creating and implementing social media strategies and campaigns
  • Developing and curating content for social media platforms
  • Managing social media accounts, including posting content and responding to comments and messages
  • Analyzing social media metrics to measure the effectiveness of campaigns
  • Collaborating with other departments, such as marketing and customer service, to ensure a consistent brand message
  • Staying up-to-date with industry trends and changes in social media algorithms
  • Greeting customers and providing tastings and pouring kombucha
  • Preparing and serving drinks and food items
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the bar area
  • Checking identification and ensuring that customers are of legal drinking age
  • Handling cash and credit card transactions
  • Monitoring customer behavior and ensuring a safe and responsible drinking environment

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Serving it Right - preferred 
  • Proven experience in social media management, with a strong portfolio of past campaigns
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms and analytics tools
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to interact with a diverse range of customers
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment

Funding:

These positions are funded by the Government of Canada Summer Jobs program. The successful candidate must meet the following criteria:

-Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period

-Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment

-Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
