Kombucha Gelatin Dessert

Looking for a summer-time treat that the kids will love and isn't loaded with sugar? Look no further! Gelatin desserts in the store are full of sweeteners, artificial flavours and colours. To make a simpler and healthier version at home all you need is good quality gelatin and your favourite flavour of kombucha. 


2 cups of kombucha

3-4 tbsp gelatin (grass-fed) - more gelatin results in a firmer finished product 


1. Add one cup of kombucha to a small pot. Stir over medium heat until it reaches a simmer. Slowly whisk in the gelatin and stir until dissolved. You'll notice some froth on top and this is totally fine

2. Allow to cool slightly before adding the additional cup of kombucha

3. Pour into a 9x9 inch pan and allow to chill for at least 1 hour

Cut it into fun shapes with a cookie cutter or use it in dessert salads and other recipes that call for jell-o. For additional sweetness you can also dissolve the gelatin in heated juice and add the kombucha as the cooled portion. 

While heating kombucha does negate the probiotic benefits of the tea, adding the cooled tea after the gelatin dissolves helps retain some of the probiotics. If you're having trouble getting the kombucha out of the pan, let the bottom of the pan sit in warm water for 10-15 seconds.
